LG Optimus Black owners, don’t you think that it has been a long time in coming, for a phone like this to finally receive the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update when other smartphones have already made the transition to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? Well, this particular update seemed to have appeared on networks for folks living in India and various parts of Europe, so if you do not happen to own the LG Optimus Black on either continent (or country), then just be patient – it should be coming your way soon.

The update will push the phone’s operating system to Android 2.3.4, which is still three versions behind the latest Gingerbread update that clocks in at version 2.3.7. Of course, it does not really matter whether you are running on Android 2.3.7 or not, since the later versions did not have any major revisions or changes in them. Good things always come to those who wait, and LG did promise an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Optimus Black as Q3 rolls around later this year.
