Amazon is finally bringing its in-app purchasing system to games on the Mac, PC, and the browser. This is good news for customers since they are now given the option to make in-app purchases via their Amazon account in the middle of a gaming session. For developers, the new in-app purchasing system will extend their reach and monetization to its customers. It’s important to note that Amazon is already supporting in-app purchases for the Kindle Fire and Android devices.

Basically, customers can use their credit card or gift certificate associated with their current Amazon account to purchase in-app items. Developers are given access to Amazon’s tight fraud detection technology and in-app purchases will also show up on Amazon’s best-seller lists, recommendations, and merchandising campaigns. Amazon is launching the feature now and developers can visit Amazon’s in-app purchasing page for more details.

“Game developers build games that are used across multiple platforms and mediums. In-App Purchasing for Mac, PC and Web-based games is our latest service that helps game developers grow their business and increase their customer-base. For years, Amazon has focused on making the online shopping experience as frictionless as possible, and we are excited to share this expertise and technology so that game developers can offer customers this same great experience,” says Mike Frazzini, Director of Amazon Games.
