call-of-duty-ghosts

Seeing as we’re at the cusp of the next generation of gaming with the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One imminent, it isn’t uncommon for games these days to require a mandatory install of content from the game disc onto a console’s hard drive. We’ve seen Grand Theft Auto V and Battlefield 4 require players to install content on their hard drives, and it looks like Call of Duty: Ghosts will do the same when it’s released next month.

Call of Duty: Ghosts players who plan on playing the game on the Xbox 360 can expect approximately 3GB of the game’s single-player campaign to be installed onto their hard drive. This is a first for the Call of Duty franchise as players will be able to install the content on their internal hard drives as well as a compatible USB 2.0 drive.

Call of Duty: Ghosts players who are solely picking up the game for multiplayer shenanigans will be happy to hear no content needs to be installed on their Xbox 360, although matches will be limited to a total of 12 players, down from 18 players in previous Call of Duty titles, Polygon reports. This holds true for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game as neither Activision nor Infinity Ward have confirmed the max player count of multiplayer matches on all platforms.
