The folks over HTC must have heaved a collective sigh of relief after the launch of the HTC One (M8) went on relatively well, but generally speaking, Android users are the ones who would benefit the most. Why do I say so? Well, it seems that HTC intends to bring their signature HTC BlinkFeed updates to anyone who own a decent Android-powered device via the Play Store.
I guess you no longer need to pick up a HTC branded device in order to enjoy the benefits of HTC BlinkFeed. Will this strategy actually cause people to look at the different kinds of smartphones that HTC has on offer on the side after seeing how useful BlinkFeed could be for social butterflies?
HTC shared, “Following its popularity with HTC users, HTC will now make HTC BlinkFeed available to other Android devices, launching on the Google Play store soon.” It remains to be seen whether there will be any kind of minimum Android version requirements for HTC BlinkFeed, and whether it will feature all the same features as BlinkFeed on an actual HTC handset itself. Only time will be able to tell, but as at press time, the BlinkFeed app is not yet compatible with non-HTC devices.
