xperia-sp-no-kitkatFor those of you who own the Sony Xperia SP, you might want to take note that this particular smartphone of yours will have its upgrade train stop at Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, at least according to what we have garnered so far online. A Sony representative claimed that there will not be any official Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Sony Xperia SP, so for those of you who upgraded your respective smartphones to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in February earlier this year, that would be as good as it gets.

Of course, here is hoping against hope that the support page for the Sony Xperia SP would not be modified so that whatever flicker of hope there is left would point to an Android 4.4 KitKat update. At the FrAndroid forums, however, Sony already has a team of representatives who have been primed to answer any incoming questions from owners of its devices, and one of those representatives claim that Android 4.4 KitKat for the Xperia SP is not going to be realized down the road.

This is quite a shame, really, considering how the smartphone itself isn’t even old in the first place, relatively speaking of course, and it has the innards which make it more than capable of handling Android 4.4 KitKat and all of its nuances.
