ps4

Christmas is a time when people buy lots of presents for their loved ones. Unfortunately it is also the time when some people try to make a quick buck off of the shopping rush during the holidays. One such story comes in from Delano, California where a woman went to Target to purchase a PlayStation 4 for her boyfriend. Upon opening the box she found something that wasn’t what she was expecting. The box had two bibles in it.

Now this isn’t the first such story that we have heard this week. Around Christmas a man bought a PlayStation 4 for Walmart as a present for his niece only to find out that instead of the console the box had rocks inside. Clearly this scam is making the rounds.

The woman, Sandra Ortiz, was understandably embarrassed when the boyfriend didn’t get a PS4 and ended up with bibles instead. “I felt like, you know, I just ruined Christmas for him and everybody else,” she says in this CNN report.

Target management was accommodating though. She brought back the package to the outlet, got an apology, and Target exchanged it for a new PlayStation 4 which most certainly had the console inside.

Usually this happens with units that someone has previously returned. The previous buyer switches the console with something else, like rocks and bibles in the two cases we’ve seen this week, and the person who buys the unit next ends up with it.

So keep in mind if you’re being given a unit that has been returned by another buyer it is best to check the contents inside the store.
