catan-movieIt was without a doubt that board game designer Klaus Teuber managed to succeed in his attempt with the very first edition of the Settlers of Catan board game when it made its way to the masses some time in 1955. Well, it has continued to grow from strength to strength since then, having sold over 22 million copies – which does lead to the question, what took it so long to make its way to be a TV show? That looks set to be a possibility in the near future, with whispers of Settlers of Catan making its way to TV screens as well as movie theaters.

Producer Gail Katz has in fact, recently announced that her production company managed to pick up the rights in order to ensure that Settlers of Catan will be more realistic than ever before on the silver screen. While we do know that box office renditions of video games have rarely ended up in a way where it picked up critical acclaim, hopefully this will not be the case where Settlers of Catan is concerned.

Of course, one of the more recent memories would be Battleship, which has more or less proven itself to be a flop, although we have also seen Settlers of Catan appear on Microsoft’s Surface before.
