lumix-lx15While our smartphones are pretty good these days at snapping photos, sometimes it’s really quite hard to beat a dedicated system. This is namely because for the most part, the tiny sensors and lenses on our smartphones isn’t quite on the level of the larger sensors and lenses found on actual cameras.

Now if you’re in the market for a camera but don’t want to lug around a DSLR, Panasonic has you covered. The company has taken the wraps off the Lumix LX15 (LX10 in some markets) which is the company’s latest compact camera, a small camera packed into a metal body which should offer up a more solid and premium feel.

As for its specs, what we are looking at is a camera with a 1-inch 20.1MP sensor. Its 1-inch sensor isn’t surprising given that companies like Sony and Canon have launched similar compact cameras. It will also come with a 24-75mm f/1.4-2.8 Leica lens and with its wide aperture, it should offer up some pretty decent bokeh.

We are also looking at 4K video capture at 24, 25, and 30fps, and all of this will set customers back $700. It will be released this coming November so keep an eye out for it if a compact camera is what you’re after.
