When it comes to video conferencing platforms for use in the enterprise, it’s hard to deny that both Microsoft and Cisco are pretty much some of the de facto companies that come to mind. However it seems that Amazon also wants to make a dent in the enterprise industry as they have launched their own video conferencing platform called “Chime”.

Launched as part of Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company describes Chime as a “communications service that transforms online meetings with a secure, easy-to-use application that you can trust. Amazon Chime works seamlessly across your devices so that you can stay connected.”

They also say that users “can use Amazon Chime for online meetings, video conferencing, calls, chat, and to share content, both inside and outside your organization. Amazon Chime frees you to work productively from anywhere.” It is supported across multiple platforms such as the desktop as well as mobile, meaning that users will be able to join in wherever they are, even if they aren’t necessarily sitting in front of their computers.

They are also boasting how Chime will be able to do multiple things besides video conferencing, such as chat, screen sharing, file sharing, and more, meaning that users don’t need to leave the app to do those things. Amazon Chime is a free download, but if you’re looking for more features there will be Plus and Pro versions that are paid subscriptions based on the number of users there are.
