Call of Duty fans are looking forward to seeing more of the upcoming addition to this long-running franchise. Developer Sledgehammer has confirmed several details about the title, including the fact that the game’s Zombies mode is going to be “based on real events.” That’s not to suggest that Zombies actually played a part in World War 2.

When Sledgehammer head Glen Schofield said that Call of Duty: WW2’s Zombies mode is going to include “really authentic stuff” and that it would be “based on real events,” he possibly meant that the events in Zombies mode will be fictional but they will take place in the context of real events from WW2.

Schofield made these comments in an EDGE feature that talks at length about the upcoming game. This particular quote is very assuming as it can be seen as suggesting that actual zombies may have anything to do with the second world war.

Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how the fictional events of Call of Duty: WW2 play out in the context of real historical events that actually took place during the second World War.

Call of Duty: WW2 is going to be released this November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is available for pre-order right now. We can expect to hear more about it at the E3 2017 gaming convention later this month.
