Monster Cable Products, Inc., popularly known as Monster, was founded by sound engineer and professional drummer Noel Lee in 1979. Lee apparently chose the name "Monster" because it sounded strong and powerful. Lee discovered that wires with different constructions created varying sounds, unlike most systems available at that time. Today, Monster is considered as one of the world's leading manufacturer of high performance cables for audio and video components. The company also makes high-quality headphones, speakers, and accessories for mobile phones, cars, and computers. In 2008, Monster partnered with Dr. Dre's company, Beats Electronics, and released the famous Beats by Dr. Dre brand.
