10/26/2011, Ford cars have been known to boast its Ford Sync technology that pairs smartphones with its vehicles, and now it looks like Toyota will be adding a similar feature to their cars in the future with the Touch Life infotainment system, that will mirror the phone’s display with a 7” touch screen.
09/13/2011, Toyota by far and large is the most successful manufacturer of hybrid vehicles in the world, and their latest target for the Prius plug-in hybrids? 50,000 units worldwide each year. Other competitors such as Honda did try in the past to combat the Prius with three generations of Civic hybrids, not to mention another two generations of Insight hybrids, but all those efforts have failed miserably to date in terms […]
09/02/2011, The name Nürburgring evokes memories of world records being broken, where dreams are realized and for the vanquished, dashed hopes of remaining top dog. Well, records were made to be broken, no? Toyota Motorsports’ most recent outing at the legendary Nürburgring racetrack in Germany has just seen their latest electric creation set a lap record where electric racers are concerned. Known as the TMG EV P001, it managed to garner […]
08/22/2011, When it comes to our electric vehicles and hybrids, they seem largely limited to cars, while more fuel-hungry vehicles such as lorries, trucks, SUVs, trailers, etc have been left out of the fuel-saving loop. Not anymore apparently, as Ford and Toyota have teamed up and will jointly develop a hybrid powertrain (a combination of an electric motor and gas engine) for light trucks and SUVs.
08/05/2011, Uh oh. Google’s driverless car, the self-driving Prius has encountered its first ever accident – according to a photograph sent in to Jalopnik by a tipster who spotted the accident somewhere nearby Google’s Mountain View California headquarters. The photograph shows some people and a police officer observing the damage caused by Google’s vehicle – the car had rear-ended another car, which also happened to be a Prius. Initially thought to […]
07/28/2011, When it comes to vehicular accidents, we don’t really think of heart attacks being the cause, but rather our minds jump to talking on the phone or drunk driving, but apparently having heart attacks while on the road is dangerous (and possibly common?) enough to the point where Toyota is reportedly working on a steering wheel that will be able to tell when you are about to have a heart […]
07/26/2011, Are cars making humans dumber, just like how scientists came to the conclusion that the use of Google has helped humans become “dumber” and more impatient, as our brains’ synapses get rerouted and thrown out of whack. Sure, passive safety technology in vehicles are much welcome such as the seat belt, child restrainer seats, automatic wipers, smart headlamps, and even Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). However, all those will amount to […]
07/22/2011, You know the adage “prevention is better than cure”? Well, Toyota certainly subscribes to that provern with their latest bit of technology – the Pre-Collision System (PCS) that is touted to be smart enough to predict collisions, applying brakes on your vehicle before you are fast enough to react. Of course, this is no fail-safe system which means you will still need to be on high alert whenever you drive, […]
07/06/2011, Not many companies are willing to put electric vehicles out there in the market and we’re not sure why, but it looks like Toyota has no qualms about it as they unveil three brand new EVs for 2012. It’s almost like they’re saying they don’t care about what preconceived notions the public may have about EVs or hybrids.
06/22/2011, Folks living in the Land of the Rising Sun will be able to get their hands on the Toyota G-Station plug-in vehicle charging systems later this July so that you can quench the thirst of your electric vehicle in the comfort of your own home in a more convenient way than ever before. The G-Station chargers will boast a contact-less smart-card recognition setup which can hook up over the Internet […]
05/26/2011, Toyota might have been the prime example of how to run a corporation more than a decade ago, with its explosive growth across North America and the rest of the world, due to their manufacturing process and quality standards. Some recalls have slowed down their growth somewhat, not to mention the slump in the auto industry, but that does not mean they have given up being trailblazers. Toyota has just […]
05/23/2011, Reuters has reported that Toyota and Salesforce.com Inc will be teaming up to build a special social network called “Toyota Friend”. You might be wondering – why doesn’t the company just make use of Facebook instead? It’s definitely not going to be able to compete against the social network mammoth and it doesn’t intend to. Toyota Friend will let people do one thing Facebook users can’t: befriend their own cars.
05/10/2011, While fuel cell cars aren’t exactly the most common vehicles around in the US, they do exist and drivers do need a place to refuel their vehicles. Latest to join the ranks of other refill stations out there is a new station from Shell and Toyota. But this station is not like any other hydrogen station – it is the first pipeline-fed hydrogen station in the country. And the station […]
04/28/2011, Toyota and WiTricity have announced that they will be collaborating together to work on a way to practically apply automotive wireless charging systems and to promote its widespread use. WiTricity, a corporation that’s known for its wireless charging technology seems a fitting match for a car company (like many others) that’s been looking to go green. Toyota, the largest car manufacturer in the world has yet to introduce a next […]
