Kwikset SmartScan biometric system
Kwikset has lifted the curtain on a stylish biometric keyless entry system for homes, utilizing SmartScan to eliminate the need for a key or key code. All you need is to swipe a valid fingerprint across the sensor in order to activate the deadbolt. Depending on how many people you have living in the house, the SmartScan system is capable of storing and recognizing up to 50 user fingerprints, including a special timed "lock out feature" which opens up a trio of access options to homeowners. You can set continual access for family members, while house sitters and contractors are given temporary access. There is no word on how much a SmartScan system costs, but each purchase comes with a lifetime warranty.

I bought one a home Depot, Installed it and worked fine for a month, then will only sense taping for the lock activation but di not response to scan, Tried the factory reset (re-scan all users) worked for 2 month then same problem came back...very disapointed and customer service will only send me to home depot with the invoice...they will not send parts or replacement... Bought stuff cheaper from other people and they sent me replacement part for free... humm

This is a common problem noted at the Customer Service center. You need to make sure the ribbon cable is securely plugged in. When it comes to scanning your finger, you need to do it the SAME WAY everytime in order for the system to recognize you. I feel it is you who needs some work.

I purchased a SmartScan deadbolt from Kwikset. It came, I installed it--it didn't work. First, the motor wasn't strong enough to open or close the deadbolt. Second, I would have to scan my finger repeatedly--10, 12, 20 times--before it would recognize my finger and activate the motor--which then would not be able to open the deadbolt. I called, complained they sent a new one. Installed it--same problems. My conclusion--this thing is a worthless piece of crap. I had high hopes and every one of them has been dashed. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!! I implore you. Steer clear of this horribly frustrating, useless hunk of metal. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

Bought my lock from GoKeyless.com. Had it in two days. Installed like a regular deadbolt. LOVED IT!

I've been waiting for a cheaper, smaller version of a bio-metric lock since I've been seeing them on Discovery's 'It Takes a Thief' telvision program. This is finally the one I've been waiting for! A little expensive for a dead bolt, yes, but to not have to bring my keys when I'm on my motorcycle, and whenever I walk the dog will be great. I used to set my alarm and just leave my doors unlocked so I wouldn't have to carry keys... This will finally be mine! : )
