deeda piPhone up next
Posted on Apr 13, 07 12:29 AM PDT

Deeda is an unknown entity that claims to have the “next generation of portable consumer multimedia devices”. From the images, the most interesting part of it is the resemblance with the iPhone interface (shiny buttons, not as nice as Apple’s). The devices have PDA-like functions and can do pretty much anything…expect being a mobile phone – which seems the most important to me.
The question is: will deeda be the next company to swear that Apple copied their stuff? It is said that they have been working on this since 2005…
Thanks to Roger for the link.

Everybody is asking where you can find the phone. It's not out yet, but if you want to find out more, then go to www.deeda.com, their website. It looks like a good competitor to the iPhone. If they say that the iPhone was a copy of what they have, then I'll be disappointed.

I find it funny that lots of people comment before actually reading the history of the device.
The deeda pi is the only mobile phone in the line-up.
The Kiku is a media player and the Menx is capable of VOiP, but is not a celluar phone.
The Pi has been worked on for over a year before the iPhone, even confirmed by an iPhone specific faq page [www.iphonefaq.org]
I will admit I am thinking there will be an IP fight concerning this one, if it makes it to market, but did anyone consider that Google seems to have also been planning a phone and this may be it?
Google an Apple work pretty close to each other and isn't it possible that one or the other may have been talking about ideas, and.....
Sort of like Paul McCartney talking to Michael Jackson about owning the Beetles catalog......and then Michael went right out and bought it!
These ideas are not new and have been in the pipeline for a while. Hell, I came up with night vision in cars in 1991, and Cadillac had it a few years later. Of course I was in highschool in '91, so it's not like people were prone to listening to teenagers back then.....
Came up with the flying squirrel suit around the same time, about ten years later you see it in a tomb raider movie......
As I said, these ideas are not new. even when the concept of the multi-touch screen debuted with the iPhone, apple admitted they weren't the first ones to come up with it.
That's the nature of technology and that's how things work, so pay attention, deal with it, and STFU.

Yeeeeeah, at least it doesn't have the apple trademark like alot of the other ones I (and probobly all of you) have seen lolx.
Mmmm, it does look kinda fake doesn't it? Haha I kinda like it though...Just the fact that is a purely just a touch screen. I think I'd buy it honestly..Haha does that make me lame? XD~!!!!

correction: the Pi is actually a GSM phone, the other devices (Menx and Kiku) are not actual cell phones. For all you cell phone enthusiasts, check out deeda.com it looks like a pretty cool device with almost endless capabilities.

Is it just me or does it say "T-Mobile" and have signal bars? Is that just for data services or is it indeed a phone (Assuming that this is a real device)?

At least they won't have any trademark issues [cough cough]

I agree - it looks very fake. When I first saw this image I didn't see a phone and wonder if it was real or not, I saw a badly photoshopped image instead - then I saw the phone hehe :)

Is it just me or does that picture look slightly amuck? It appears to be photoshopped...poorly.
With that being said, I would love to see a Linux based phone. I currently use a Moto Q and love it. My only complaint is lack of touchscreen that my PPC 6700 had but the performance was pretty mediocre.
