Skype coming to the PSP - Proof

[CES 2008] The CES 2008 website from Sony shows that the PSP will feature Skype support – something that is definitely not out today. The PSP video also gives the information away, although it shows up only for 1 frame! It’s an interesting Easter egg and apparently, we are the first to have caught it :)

ok first off it says in almost every txt box that u cant use it on the fat PSP so no one else say it. second whoever said that they wanted it for a cell phone is stupid cuz its nothing like a cell phone u have to have an internet connection

you do not have to download skype if you have a slim psp,you just have to go under network and skype is the third application down

YES!My bro has skype and i dont.We both have 3.95 firmware and only his slim psp has it.I tried sending the skype folder to my psp memory stick but it deleted my videos and music.I managed to back them up though.

Skype only works with the PSP 2000 series (Slim) because the software and hardware is updated and improved vs the PSP 1000 series (Fat). And because 1000 series and 2000 series accessories don't work with one another... there is no possiable way to get something on the slim on the fat. In simple words... Skype cannot, in any way, be put on the first PSP! I know it sucks, but if you have the 1000 series PSP (Fat) and want Skype you will have to buy the new PSP 2000 series (Slim). I have the slim so i don't have to worry.

to download skype you need to have the psp 2000 (slim). a lot of people have the psp 1800 (fat). so you might have get the psp slim. thats what im going to do.

XD, Sony didn't try their hardest to get it on the fat PSP, they _intentionally_ did that so people would have to buy a PSP Slim if they wanted to use it portably.
Skype is actually quite cheap considering you can call landlines in America for free, and their international rates are really good.

hey, i just got this new skype thing on my psp and its pretty cool but, i am not really sure how it works i see that it gave me 1 free call but, can i do more? i know that i can get free calls to and from other PSP users but, i cant send phone calls to people on home lines is it really expensive or what? i would like to try it out but it seems like some thing that costs alot. so can you help me out?

yeh this doesn't work on the old fat PSP1000's because of lack of RAM. Sony have stated that they tried there hardest to get it to work on the older ones but the lack of RAM was just too much of an issue to work around. And iv herd that it will work with the SOCOM headset.
