Touch screen displays never really took off until the iPhone made such a big splash last year, or was it just coincidence that touch screen panels became more and more affordable, hence the many devices including it in their specifications? Whatever the cause, the Chuwi T8 portable media player does more than just touch screen navigation as it features “dual cover” technology. According to the video, it does look as though the swiping feature is rather slippery, but that could be due to a firmware issue as well. It is powered by a Rockchip RK2706 processor and comes with the following specifications :-

  • Voice recording
  • 5 hours of continuous video playback
  • 3″ 400 x 240 touch screen display
  • 3-inch 400 x 240 touch screen
  • Supports RM, RMVB, AVI, DIVX, XVID, FLV , ASF, MP4 video formats
  • Supports MP3, WMA, WMA/VBR, APE, FLAC , AAC , OGG audio formats
  • Supports JPEG, BMP and GIF image formats
  • 4GB internal memory

You certainly won’t bite off more than you can chew as the Chuwi T8 retails for just $119.
