Posted on Mar 23, 09 12:38 PM PDT

That's a cool application: it lets iPhone users plant a virtual tree from their phone while simultaneously activating the planting of a real tree. Showcased at TED, the app is now available on iTunes, the real trees are planted by the Conservation Fund, and they will starts with the restoration of the of the vulnerable wildlife habitat along the Gulf Coast. Sponsored by Ecolife Apparel, a cotton collection of "green" underwear, and developed by iPhactory, this application makes you grow and nurture your virtual tree: shake the phone to make a rain shower, when the virtual sun shines the tree begins to grow, if you want a forest, click on the shovel to plant more trees. There is a world map where you can see other fellow iPhoresters. Watch the video here.
A forest sponsored by an underwear manufacturer via a mobile application! Technology can be sooo surprising sometimes!
