Acer C1 Smartphone Going For Cheap
Posted on Jun 16, 09 05:31 PM PDT

Acer has plans to roll out a super cheap Windows Mobile-powered smartphone sometime this autumn for less than $50. Known as the C1, it will come with a 2.8" touchscreen display accompanied by GPS navigation, although that won't be the only offering from Acer as the C1 will be accompanied by the L1 and high-end F1. Bear in mind the $50 price point will probably mean an unlocked handset, as Aymar de Lencquesaing, president of Acer's smart handheld business group, has stated that "in this economic crisis, the replacement rate of feature phones has slowed down. The C1 will cost $50, or even lower when paired with a contract." What do you think? We can't say much until the rest of the specifications list is released.
