Couple Builds A Robot Child Companion Called Aimec

Want to have a little robotic companion at home instead of a child? You could always take the path that Tony Ellis and his wife did, which is creating their own four-foot robot, dubbed Aimec (Artificially Intelligent Mechanical Electronic Companion 3). Aimec is smart enough to crack jokes and laugh, and will even snore while sleeping, not to mention waking up with a stretch. Since it’s a robot, it can connect to the Internet via wireless connectivity, enabling it to look up subjects that it doesn’t understand online. It’s also capable of connecting to household appliances to turn on the TV, dim the lights, and pretty much whatever cool electronics you have at home. Mr. Ellis even believes that Aimec could be sold for about $311 in stores in the next few years, and considering that it sounds like a fair price for a robot, we hope such a situation does become a reality soon.
