The Sony Qualia 006 is now using the SXRD Technology from Sony (similar to LCOS – Liquid Crystal On Silicon). SXRD enhances the resolution, the contrast (usually limited for LCD-based displays) and the response time (5ms).

The Sony Qualia 006 70-inch LCD projection HDTV is has a resolution of 1920×1080 (1080p) and costs about $15000. That’s definitely a high-end TV. It might sound expensive, but a Plasma TV of similar size would cost $50000.

The LCOS technology has suffered a series of setback last year when Philips and Intel decided to scrap their LCOS projects. Inspired by sorobangeeks (French)
