Bye Bye Standby kills Standby Mode

Saving power is a pretty big issue, as each household can save a sizeable amount of money over the course of the year by taking simple steps like turning off the computer when it is not in use amongst others. There are also gadgets other than energy-efficient lightbulbs to help residents save on their power bills – take the Bye Bye Standby for example. This energy saving solution works by completely cutting power to devices plugged into it when not in use, relegating Standby Mode into the annals of history. Theoretically, you can save up to £38 a year on your power bill, but is that worth the price of losing all the settings on your set-top box or TV? Just don’t plug your Nintendo Wii into it when you’re busy downloading games before you go to sleep.
