Toshiba looks set to up the ante when it comes to NAND flash memory at the end of this year by making 16GB versions available, a move which could see Apple releasing a larger capacity iPod nano next year. This 16GB flash chip uses eight of Toshiba’s 2B NAND chip, where samples of it will be shipped to potential customers this summer with mass production hitting a gear up this December. Such news can only be good as consumer electronics relying on NAND flash memory will be able to offer more megabyte-per-dollar as memory prices fall.
