The StrikeAlert device lets you know in advance whether the approaching storms will carry lighting or not by simply sounding an audible alarm and lighting up a series of colored LEDs. In addition, it lets you know the distance of the storm within a 40 mile radius. This device is powered by a couple of AA batteries, working for up to 100 hours before a replacement is needed. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather stay at home during a thunderstorm and remain under my covers with a hot chocolate in one hand and a book in the other – anyone with half a brain would know that there’s bound to be lighting outside! The curious can pick up the StrikeAlert for $79.99 from Outdoors Technologies.
