Samsung unveils Q1 refresh

Samsung has just unveiled the Q1 Ultra UMPC, a computing device where its predecessor caused more than a few ripples within the industry a couple of years’ back. It is disappointing to see Samsung throw in an “Ultra” suffix in the new model instead of seeing a progression in numbers. That grip aside, the Q1 Ultra will be powered by Intel’s Ultra Mobile Processor at clock speeds of 600MHz and 800MHz and come with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and an optional 3.5G HSDPA cellular modem. Battery life has been increased to 4.5 hours, and consumers have a choice between Windows XP Tablet or Vista Home operating systems. The Q1 Ultra will be priced from $799 upwards, depending on the system configuration.
