Doctors have used a videoconferencing robot to check on their patients remotely, speaking to them as if the patient was in the same room as the doctor. This robot definitely comes in handy when you want to keep tabs on some of your patients at night, or whenever unforseen complications arise. It is capable of circling the bed while adjusting its pair of cameras, giving the perception of the doctor being there in the flesh to the patient. This robot has been christened Bari, and will retail for $150,000 a pop. Looks like a Jetsons-style future is heading our way slowly but surely. I sure hope whoever uses the Bari won’t abuse it to peep in places where it shouldn’t.
