This is great for those who suffer from memory lapses that cause them to forget their house keys as well. All you need to do is swipe the appropriate digit and an “Open Sesame” will be performed. Of course, the SmartScan holds more than a single biometric signature, so you can assign the entire family while keeping annoying relatives out. Hopefully power failures and brownouts will be rare and fare between, else you’ll need to use the manual override to get into your home. The Kwikset SmartScan retails for $200 a pop.
