Space Invaders tell the time

You might recognize Space Invaders to be the game where a lone spaceship defends the earth from an impending alien invasion, but Jason has taken this classic game and turned it into a timepiece with some D.I.Y. wizardry. Cobbling together a propeller chip that produces flicker-free video and a discarded Sony portable TV, this Space Invaders Clock tells the time with in-game graphics. For example, the number of aliens represent the minutes (0 to 59) while extra lives indicate the current hour. Alternatively, if you’re in a rush and can’t be bothered to count up to 59 aliens, there is a shortcut in telling the time by reading out the last 4 digits of the high score. Neat!
