The Hanns. G HG281D 28″ LCD monitor has been taken out for a spin by the folks at Extreme Tech, and they are pretty impressed with it overall. Features include a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, a response time of 3ms, a contrast ratio of 800 to 1, and a recommended retail price that does not breach the $700 mark ($650 actually). Unfortunately, when ranked against similarly sized monitors (albeit those are much more costly), it isn’t really able to compete with them due to the monitor’s relatively poor gamma curve and dark color numbers. Not only that, certain extras we have come to take for granted like extra USB ports aren’t included – I guess you get what you pay for after all.
