Toshiba is releasing a hard drive (MK8050GAC) that has a shock-resistance rating far above your average PC hard disk: 300G.
That’s because it is meant to be used outdoors in cars, embedded systems and other demanding applications that can now benefit from a huge storage, when compared with the previous option: flash memory. (Flash is not sensitive to shocks, because it has no mechanical parts). Product page
