Rail Gun Developed By U.S. Navy

The U.S. Navy has recently installed an electro-magnetic laboratory rail gun which looks set to be the largest of its kind ever built. This 32-megajoule weapon is capable of heaving projectiles at Mach 7, allowing it to shoot 10 times farther than contemporary naval guns with its 220 mile range. The projectile will hit at Mach 5, whereby the target will be obliterated with kinetic energy instead of conventional explosives. I guess those Rangers in Quake are a really tough breed since a rail shot can’t do you in as long as your health remains at 100 and you carry an armor shard with you.
