NEC Gets Tough With Versa N1100 Notebook

Panasonic has their range of Toughbooks, and NEC proves that it can mix it up with the best of them with their new Versa N1100 notebook. This magnesium alloy-based notebook can survive even with a 150kg weight sitting right smack on top of it for…five seconds. Not too sure whether it can hold up after that, but at least that ought to give you enough time to shout your displeasure as your overweight colleague realizes he is sitting on a notebook instead of a hard cushion. Other tests involved NEC dropping the netbook onto wooden floors, iron plates and concrete surfaces without suffering any internal damage. Specifications of this tough critter include :-

  • 8.9″ WSVGA display
  • Intel Atom N270 processor
  • 160GB hard drive
  • 1GB RAM
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • Windows XP
  • 3-cell battery

There is no word on pricing or availability as at press time.
