Mitsubishi 1DIN Blu-ray Disc Player Is Tiny

Just how small do you think a Blu-ray player can get? Well, Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has successfully developed a 1DIN automotive Blu-ray Disc (BD) player which has 33% the volume of its home BD player, which is a whole lot smaller than what one would expect. This BD player is tipped to be commercialized sometime this year, supporting BD-ROM, BD-R and BR-RE formats while measuring a diminutive 50mm x 178mm x 180mm. There is no word on pricing, but at least you know you can keep your kids occupied with high definition entertainment on the go. Which is a pity, really, unless your car is a Hummer stretch limo that has enough room to fit in a 37″ flat panel display, otherwise watching Blu-ray movies on a 7″ display is like driving a Ferrari while stuck in a traffic jam.
