Most memory card readers are just that, they do nothing but make sure data can be transferred to and fro from a memory card to another device, but Sonnet offers something different with its Qio media card reader/writer which comes with an integrated E4P SATA host controller that allows you to connect it to external hard drives as well as flash cards as and when the need surfaces. This device will feature dual P2, SxS and CompactFlash slots, where four eSATA ports are located on the back panel with an adapter to handle SD, XF and other memory card formats. The Sonnet Qio will ship with either one of two interfaces, depending on whether you’re a desktop or notebook user. No idea on pricing, but it ought to be available sometime next month.
