The DynaVox Xpress is a new handheld communication device that ups the ante for devices in its category, tipping the scales at 1.5 pounds while featuring a 5″ touchscreen display. While this will be used mainly for “talking”, it will be accompanied by a bevy of icons alongside a venerable library of phrases and vocabulary to get you started right out of the box. In addition, you get speakers that will help you vocalize the communications in order to get your message across. Other features include a built-in MP3 player, Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth connectivity, a calendar and the ability to download new vocabulary to the device to keep it up-to-date with the current lingo. There is no word on pricing and availability at press time, although more on the device ought to be revealed sometime next week.
