Nokia has announced that it is testing its RD-3 modem, the first one to use the LTE (long term evolution) next-generation wireless protocol that can reach a *theoretical* peak download speed of 326Mbps (versus 14.4Mbps for today’s best networks). While the RD-3 modem has been built only for testing purposes by industry players, it shows that the industry is slowly ramping up LTE. As you can guess, the RD-3 modem is backwards compatible with EDGE (2.5G) and HSPA (3.5G).
