InvenSense MPU-3000 motion processing unit

Hmmm, chipsets are getting more and more complicated by the day, and InvenSense’s offering is no different with their MPU-3000 that is touted to be the first motion processing unit in the world. It comes with an integrated digital 3-axis gyro as well as digital motion processor hardware acceleration engine, basically allowing smartphones and other smaller devices to enjoy motion processing anywhere from 250 to more than 2,000 degrees per second. To sweeten the deal, the MPU-3000 can also support gesture control which would mean you can now have Wii-like games on the go. It will be interesting to see how the InvenSense MPU-3000 will be implemented, especially at its relatively low cost of $4 a pop (in bulk, of course). Could we be looking at a whole new way of interacting with smartphones to move forward from multitouch?
