TRW Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) and Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring system (TPMS) receiver

TRW has rolled out a couple of devices that might appeal to those of you who are motorheads out there – the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) and Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring system (TPMS) receiver. The system will do away with the need for separate receivers for two system, since the performance characteristics can be maintained without taking up too much space, resulting in a lighter weight and more simple wiring. All transmitted commands will be received by a single smart receiver/ECU, which in turn processes information from the RKE fobs. In addition, both temperature and pressure signals will be sent from the transmitters located in the TPMS sensor units in each individual tire. Expect to see the integrated system hit vehicles sometime in 2012 or 2013, so don’t hold your breath just yet. [Press Release]
