Sony Optiarc unveils new DVD/CD Rewritable Drives

Sony Optiarc America has launched a couple more DVD/CD Rewritable Drives, where one of them is a portable, slim external DVD/CD recordable drive with the other being a second generation half height internal 24X DVD/CD recordable drive. Of course, with many people moving on to Blu-ray as a backup medium, there are still tons of folks out there, especially in developing nations, who rely on DVD instead due to its widespread availability and relatively low cost. The DRX-S77U drive comes in a sleek, lightweight design with a range of colors including black, white, pink and gold, where it can support up to 8X DVD+/-R recording speeds, delivering a full 4.7 GB disc of video, data, music or images on standard 8X DVD+/-R media. As for the AD-7260S internal DVD/CD recordable drive, it offers a similar 24X max speed and high quality performance that was found on its predecessor, retailing for a mere $28.99 while supporting up to 24X max DVD+/-R recording, 12X DVD+/-R Double/Dual layer recording, 12X DVD-RAM, and 48X CD-R performance. LightScribe technology is also incorporated for easy labeling of your media. [Press Release]
