Maxell ErgoMotion Mouse merges joystick and mouse functions

It looks like after so many decades of the mouse being around as a computer peripheral, no one really came up with an ergonomic design which will put to bed all the problems of RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury) claims and pains. Well, Maxell has plans to change that with the Maxell ErgoMotion Mouse which is more or less your standard mouse that sits on top of an extremely short joystick. While the mouse is slightly raised above what is the standard mousing position, it also sports a couple of buttons and a scroll wheel similar to other mice. You tilt the mouse instead to control the cursor, and while the mouse is able to slide on your desk freely, that particular form of movement will not end up as cursor movement. Of course, this design isn’t perfect either since early reports of those who tried it out claimed that tilting forward put too much pressure on the buttons and might result in accidental clicks, ruling this out of being a promising gaming peripheral. Expect the Maxell ErgoMotion Mouse to hit the market next month onwards for $49.
