When the Nintendo Wii was released, many folks scoffed at it, but in spite of the detractors, the console managed to do really well. That being said, is the aging console finally beginning to run out of steam? According to Nintendo’s fiscal report, the gaming company sold 20.53 million Wii consoles last year, which is a 21 percent drop from the 25.95 million of the previous year. Of course, while that doesn’t sound too exciting for Nintendo, it’s still worth noting that this is still Nintendo’s third-best year ever. Will sales of the Wii pick up next year, or will Nintendo need to churn out a successor to this console in order to revive sales?
