Sony Ericsson A8i supports China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network

Sony Ericsson has decided to play ball with China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network by offering the A8i smartphone in that market. Coming with a 3.5-inch touchscreen display while featuring a human curvature design concept which is now a staple across the Sony Ericsson portfolio, this phone will feature a spectrum of signature applications such as TrackID which is linked directly with China Mobile’s entertainment download service, ensuring those in China will be able to gain access to a wide range of local music. You can even enjoy CMMB mobile TV on the A8i’s display, and should there be no TD-SCDMA 3G signal available at the moment, you can always rely on a Wi-Fi connection to get things going. No idea on how much it costs in that part of the world though, but it is great to see more branded smartphones hit that part of the world without having to rely on dual SIM clones. [Press Release]
