Toshiba Brings Libretto W100 Dual-Screen Tablet to USA

Toshiba is now maiing good on its promise of bringing the dual-screen Libretto W100 Windows 7 tablet to the U.S. market. The W100 will retail in the USA through a limited production run for the price of $1,100. After the limited run, Toshiba has not announced what it intends to do with the W100.

At this time only one configuration option is available for the Libretto W100 with a Pentium US400 CPU clocking in at 1.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and SSD RAM with Windows 7 Home Premium. Other features include 1 USB, Bluetooth, and a micro SDHC for expansion.

The Libretto W100 features two touchscreens that can fold together like a clamshell laptop. By using two touchscreens, the bottom touchscreen, while used in laptop mode, can offer dynamic key arrangements to adjust to the application or program, or feature menus and commands that can change rather than using a static hardware keyboard. Whether the Libretto W100 can add enough developers to make use of the full potential of having a secondary touchscreen is still yet to be seen.
