Another day, another free mobile messaging app… but I found this one really interesting from a user experience prospective. HighNote is launching today for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android phones, and it offers a broad range of multi-media choices for communicating with friends and family. Jeanine LeFlore, Chief Marketing Officer, HighNote, showed me a demo: basically, you can add up to 2 pieces of different media to each slide – a slide is what you see in the iPhone screen – and a message can include up to nine slides!

Users can send maps, music, videos, photos, greetings and various audio files that they have recorded on the phone, additionally, they can arrange the order of the slides within a message using the slide sorter option (picture above). One of the best features is the possibility to include customized quick reply buttons, so the recipient can choose to respond using nine different media options at the click of a button, brilliant!

Key Features of HighNote (from the press release):

  • Free messaging. Free app: The app is offered without any obtrusive advertisements across iPhone, iTouch, iPad, and Android. (Blackberry, Symbian, and Windows 7 coming soon.)
  • Creative Content: The app allows users to include multiple types of media content within one message. Maps, videos, music, pictures, voice recordings and custom greetings can all be sent at once without having to hop in and out of an app.
  • Quick-Reply Buttons: HighNote allows users to send messages that include customized quick reply buttons that enable the receiver to respond with a single tap using any number of media options.
  • Cross Platform: Once downloaded, HighNote users can message each other anywhere for free.  A web link will be sent out when messaging a non-HighNote user on any phone, which will allow them to view the message via a Web browser.

Pricing and availability:
HighNote is free to all users worldwide. The app is available on the iPhone, iPad, iTouch, and Android.
