Digital books are the future – just take a look at all the e-book readers in the market which didn’t actually die off as some naysayers predicted, but actually grew in terms of its market reach as well as desirability. Well, some folks out there still prefer to stay with the old – after all, there is nothing quite like seeing your own handwriting on paper, not to mention the smell of old books, dog-eared and such. Perhaps someone should come up with an app for digital books to turn them into dog-eared copies after some time, a visual statement of degradation so to speak in order to inject some realism. Apart from that, how about the feeling of flipping pages while getting the wind generated to blow across your face? Also, remember as a kid, how you used to do stop motion animation drawings on the corners of your book pages? Those can’t be done with a digital book, and the Smart Bookrest Docking System you see here intends to bridge the gap by bringing both the old and new together. It will rely on a QR code that is printed on the page, where relevant media after reading said code will be displayed on the tablet. Of course, such a concept will definitely take time to be realized, so keep your fingers crossed someone will be inspired enough to manufacture something like it.
