Synology DiskStation DS2411+

In today’s world, sometimes having dual 2TB hard disk drives isn’t enough for your storage needs. Especially since everybody has access to a fast internet connection, computer savvy folks are constantly running out of space to store files and the ever growing collection of external hard disks aren’t helping with the archiving process.

Well, maybe it’s time to bring in the big guns. Something along the lines of Synology’s new DiskStation DS2411+. This external hard drive rack contains 12 slots for you to load up with 2.5″ or 3.5″ hard disk drives and supports up to 36TB (that’s 2TB per drive) so you’ll never have to worry about running out of space again (at least not for another year or two).

The DS2411+ supports RAID configurability, and can even be expanded through its four USB 2.0 ports (shouldn’t USB 3.0 be the standard these days?). You can even attach Synology’s DX1211 expansion module to double its capacity to 72TB. It can even function as a personal cloud server if you wish, since it comes with a dual-core 1.8GHz processor, 1GB of RAM (upgradeable to 3GB), twin Gigabit Ethernet ports, and optional WiFi connectivity in the event you want to access it remotely.

The DS2411+ isn’t cheap though, it’s going to set you back $1,699.99 and that’s not including the hard disks which you’ll purchase to fill it up. Find out more at Synology’s website.
