Vizio – the name that you would normally associate with quality LCD HDTVs at a reasonable price point is back with something far smaller to the tune of just 8″ – we’re talking about the new Vizio tablet that sports Wi-Fi connectivity, having arrived at retailers around the country for just $299 a pop. Yes, price is not everything, but many people would use that as a yardstick first before going through the list of hardware specifications in order to make a comparison.

The Vizio tablet will come with Vizio Internet Apps Plus that merges the latest technologies alongside a unified, easy-to-use and fun user interface, where it will work in tandem with some of Vizio’s upcoming HDTVs, Blu-ray players and other devices – now isn’t this a real differentiating factor compared to the slew of tablets out there?

Basically, the new Vizio tablet will also double up as some form of universal remote control thanks to a special app, while an integrated HDMI port with HDCP support will let you play protected content via HD playback on the big screen. If you need more memory for the Vizio tablet, there is always the microSD memory card slot to get started. [Press Release]
