Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition outed by online retailers

Fans of the Gran Turismo franchise or racing games will be interested to hear that a mysterious new game has appeared on various online retailers’ websites, such as Amazon, Newegg and Buy.com. The game has been dubbed “Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition” and it has been priced at $39.99 and is expected to see a release on the 17th of January 2012. Unfortunately little to nothing else is known about the game apart from its title.

However some are speculating that the XL Edition could very well be the North American version of Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 disc update which was recently announced for Japan. Basically what that entails is it includes pretty much all of GT5’s recent updates along with a DLC out-of-the-box. That would seem more likely compared to a new game, but either way we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out here for additional details once they have been confirmed.
