Heads up diners, the next time you head to your local T.G.I. Friday’s you could be paying for your food via your smartphone. The restaurant chain has recently introduced a new mobile payment option called Tabbedout. This basically allows diners to open a tab with the restaurant and pay for their bills directly from their smartphone via an app that Friday’s launched earlier this week. Users will be able to register their credit card with T.G.I. Friday’s and keep the card on file, so when it’s time to settle the bill, diners will be able to pay the bill straight away without the hassle of filling out forms.

At the moment the system accepts only credit cards but given Tabbedout’s integration with PayPal (currently available only in Austin merchants at this time), perhaps we could see PayPal as another payment option for T.G.I. Friday’s diners in the future. The rollout of the new Tabbedout system will encompass 350 out of the 600 restaurant chain locations, with the remaining chains and franchises expected jump aboard the program in the future. Unfortunately the app is currently available for iPhone devices but support for Android will be arriving later.
