Suidobashi Heavy Industry is currently constructing a mecha that they have dubbed the Vaudeville, and this is not one robotic toy that is going to reside on your desk. No sir, we are talking about a mecha that stands proud at 3.8 meters in height, and I would not want to be anywhere near the Vaudeville should it happen to get knocked off its balance, as it tips the scales at a whopping 4,500 kg – that amounts to approximately 4.9 tons. Only a single occupant can sit inside, and the Vaudeville is slated to be up and fully operational before the year is over, unlike the Death Star that has an accelerated building rate because of the Emperor’s impending visit.

The Vaudeville will be supported by four legs, where each of these legs end up as a wheel. The software used to control the Vaudeville will merge a smartphone, master-slave handle bars (for the arms), as well as – of all things, a Microsoft Kinect sensor, so that the pilot can rotate the cockpit – and one can only assume that the pilot’s head movement would be the trigger here. Not only that, the Vaudeville is said to be sold with other options such as a water gun and a camo paint job amongst others. I wonder if riot police units around the world would want to see something like this in their arsenal….
