Viddy

The Instagram of the video world Viddy, is continuing to hit new highs in the world with the application hitting 26 million users and reports indicating that the video-sharing application is garnering a massive 500,000 users every day. After there were reports about Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg joining the ranks of Viddy users, other celebrities such as Shakira, Jay-Z and Will Smith among others have invested in the project and it seems that it will be paying out.

Reports indicate that the reason Viddy is making it big is because it doesn’t relate to just one subject, person or a group of people. On the other hand, it’s “video sharing for everyone”. With people like Bill Cosby and Snoop Dogg also liking what they see and deciding to use Viddy, it seems that the 500,000 new users a day figure is not likely to go down very soon.

The new-found popularity of Viddy has resulted in people referring to the act of uploading a video to the application as “posting a Viddy” which is similar to “Googling something”. Although I am in no way comparing the popularity of Viddy against Google here, if the video-sharing application does make its way over for Google’s Android users, it could be equally successful. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can click here to visit the iTunes App Store now.
